Less cynicism

The event organization business is a rather cynical thing. We often talk about high things, about the goals and values of the company, about culture, great people and achievements, but for us it is work and routine. Every day I hear about the high values of great companies, so I begin to relate to this ... calmly. If not skeptical. And the managers on the part of the Client also talk about their high values so often that they too get tired and, losing faith, continue to observe the ritual. For example, an honest democratic competition takes place, when management and employees, all together ... Class! But the manager comes up quietly and asks him to win “that table”, there are important people. Or a lottery. Or something else. And what is there to do? To quarrel with the manager and his boss? Fool people who believe the contest is fair? I'm not Batman, I can’t fix the world so that it suits me in everything.

It was all the more surprising to meet people who believe sincerely and play by the rules. We worked with one alcohol company, and they struck me with the fact that they are real, without cynicism. They do not play democracy within the company, they really have democracy. They did not agree with my opinion and decided to conduct a survey (well, okay, many do), but in the end they accepted their opinion. We received feedback from employees - direct quotes. In preparation for February 23 and March 8, men are preparing a surprise for women, and women - for men. So, they actually identified different managers and, in all seriousness, hide from each other what is being prepared (including the budget). Because the other manager, even the closest colleagues, should also be surprised.

In the last couple of months, I have met surprisingly professional and honest people. These are contractors who suddenly turn out to be sane, do not seek to squeeze out all the juices from you, they have order in their office and warehouse, they love their director. And the director is a smart and enthusiastic person who loves his job and employees. And this is for real. These are Clients who do not bother and honestly tell us what the budget is, what are our chances of a tender, and how to build relationships with the financial service. These are the most different people who fulfill their promises on time and do it easily, without straining.

Good feeling. Less cynicism, more sense. Perhaps this is called - a civilized market.
